The Safari is a Powell Peralta skateboard deck with the new Flight Construction.
8.25 inch wide, 31.95 inch long, 14.25 inch wheelbase, 6.88 inch nose, 6.63 inch tail.
The Shape 248 from Powell is a standard popsicle shape.
The K20 Concave is a medium concave with a medium nose and tail kick.
Powell's Flight Construction promises a lighter, stiffer deck that lasts longer and doesn't lose pop as quickly.
With only 5 instead of the usual 7 layers of maple wood bonded with epoxy glue, flight decks are significantly thinner and lighter than conventional boards.
There is a thin carbon fiber layer on the top and bottom, which provides additional stability. In the tests carried out by Powell, flight decks are more than twice as break-proof as conventional 7-layer decks.
Powell also promises longer lasting pop and more bounce energy for higher ollies. Decide for yourself...
