Bones Wheels

Bones Wheels originates from the house of Powell Peralta and was founded in 1977 by George Powell. This makes the company one of the oldest in the business, which has quickly established itself in the scene thanks to its excellent products and continues to convince many skateboarders today through its quality and style. Powell's vision was to blend the perfect mixture of the then new material urethane. The studied engineer succeeded in finding a formula that revolutionized the wheel market and overshadowed all current products at the time. In 1977, there were only soft and wide wheels, which, however, no longer satisfied the rapidly growing demands of skateboarders. The wheels of Bones were harder and had a radial shape with rounded edges for the first time. Bones' compound also had the unique characteristic that they clearly differed in color from other wheel manufacturers. Previously, all Wheels had a yellow tint, the products of Bones had, thanks to the special mixture ratio, a skeleton-like white color. Bones also owes its name to this special white. The new Radial Shape guaranteed responsiveness and speed. Many consumers appreciated the Bones products, which is why all other brands soon brought similar products onto the market. The superior quality, however, has successfully prevailed and remains unchanged today. To this day, all Bones wheels are manufactured in Santa Barbara, California, USA.

Which Bones Wheels will be the right ones for you?

Bones Wheels are available in different urethane formulas and hardnesses. In order for you to find the right wheels for your individual needs, we will give you an overview of all shapes and hardnesses.

100s: 100s are the standard compound with a durometer of 100A. The perfect allround wheel, thanks to the medium hardness suitable for any terrain. The 100s are the perfect choice for beginners or advanced skaters who want to develop their skating and do not want to reduce themselves to a single area of application. Whether street, park or bowl, the 100s work everywhere. Another advantage is the excellent price-performance ratio.

STF: The Street Tech Formula from Bones Wheels was the most popular on the market for a long time and the first choice for all street and park riders. A high-end product that only got a serious competitor years after the development by the Formula Four of Spitfire Wheels. STFs convince with flatspot resistance, speed and excellent slide behavior. The formula is available in two grades of durometer. 99A is the standard durometer and is at home on any terrain, while the 103As are the hardest wheels on the market and are perfect for street skateboarders.

SPF: The SPF, or Skate Park Formula was developed specifically for skating on ramps and in bowls. The SPF Wheels are offered in 2 degrees of hardness: The 84B, or 104A are even harder than STF and are the hardest wheels on the market. With 101A SPF Wheels are also offered in a standard durometer. Wheels with the SPF formula are mostly available in larger diameters from 54 millimeters, which of course has a positive effect on the performance in ramps and bowls.

Bones STF (Street Tech Formula) Wheels are offered in 5 different shapes, after all, skateboarders have very specific requirements for the performance of their wheels.

V1: The V1 are Standard Cut Wheels, symmetrically round cut on both sides and thus the optimal all-round wheel. Bones V1 are center set, and can therefore also be mounted with the graphics inwards.

V2: The V2 or Locks are conical cut and make it easier to lock in grinds on rails, ledges and curbs due to their flat sloping edges. The conical cut makes them slightly lighter and their slightly wider tread gives you more control, which pays off especially at high speeds.

V3: The V3 are the Bones slims. The cut is very similar to the V1, but they are slightly narrower and lighter, which has a positive effect on the slide behavior due to the lower resistance. Thanks to this feature, they are the perfect wheels for technical street skating and the first choice of many pros.

V4: All wheels with the V4 shape are particularly wide, with a classic, round cut. The wide tread provides more grip and abrasion resistance and additional stability at higher speeds.

V5: The V5, or sidecuts, are conical cut. Conical cut Wheels have some advantages over the round cut. They are slightly lighter and, thanks to the flattened sides, make it easier to lock in grinds on rails and ledges. Another minimal positive effect is that the graphics are a somewhat better protected.

Bones SPF, the Skate Park Formula are just like the STFs available in five shapes

P1: The P1 are standard cut wheels, symmetrically round cut on both sides and thus optimal all-round wheels that work on any terrain. Bones P1 are center set, and can therefore also be mounted with the graphics inwards.

P2: The P2 or Locks are conical cut and make it easier to lock into grinds on rails, ledges and curbs due to their flat sloping edges. The conical cut makes them a bit more lightweight and their slightly wider tread gives you more control at high speeds.

P3: The P3 are the slims of Bones. The round cut is reminiscent of the P1, but they have a narrower tread and thus improve the slide behavior.

P4: The P4 are wide wheels with a classic round cut and a wider tread for more grip and abrasion resistance. The wide cut also provides more stability at higher speeds.

P5: The P5 or Sidecuts, are conical cut. Conical cut Wheels have some advantages over the round cut. They are slightly lighter and, thanks to the flattened sides, make it easier to lock in grinds on rails and ledges. Another minimal positive effect is that the graphics are a little better protected.
